One of the rising eSports in Brazil and in the world, Free Fire can already be considered one of the most important games in the country. The Battle Royale developed by Garena has a more modest championship calendar compared to other games, but it already has world and intercontinental tournaments. In Brazil, the scenario has two well-structured competitions, the Free Fire Pro League and the NFA League. Check out more details about how the Free Fire competition works:

DISPUTE AND GAMES FORMAT
The format adopted in the competition is simple and made in a running points system. The main championships are usually played by 12 teams of four players each, called squads.
Besides, there are only two maps per championship, interspersed between one fall and another. The objective behind each team is to survive until there is no one left but it, either by eliminating the opponents or not being eliminated – the team that wins a round receives the “BOOYAH”.

The greater the number of opponents eliminated by the team and the greater the “survival” placement, the higher the respective score. This is because, in addition to the fixed number of points per place, the final value varies according to the number of individual kills for which the team was responsible – that is, the more kills and the longer alive, the more points you earn.

MAIN CHAMPIONSHIPS
A wish of all players and professional teams in the modality, the Free Fire World Championship is the main tournament in the scenario, drawing crowds wherever it goes and it is also the competition that most awards this season – in the last World Cup, US$ 400 thousand were distributed. Recent in the history of electronic sports, the Free Fire World Cup was disputed in only two occasions, both in 2019. The first edition, won by EVOS Capital (Indonesia), was held in Thailand in April 2019 and the second edition had the Corinthians (Brazil) as great champion at home.
In Brazil the main championship is the Free Fire Pro League (FFPL). A sort of “Brazilian Championship” if we were to take it to football, the FFPL will have its fourth season in 2020 and has already consecrated Tropa M3C (S1), New X (S2) and Corinthians (S3) as Brazilian champions of Free Fire – the FFPL too it is the championship that gives place to the World Cup in the sport.
More recently, another championship caught the attention of the general public in Brazil. In its third season, the NFA League has gained popularity among organizations and players and shares the focus of the Brazilian scene with the Pro League, but still without the great appeal of the FFPL.

TEAM AND PLAYERS
Unlike other more established sports such as Counter Stike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) and League of Legends, where, today, Brazil is not an international reference, in Free Fire Brazilians dominate the world. Newcomer to the electronic sports scene, Corinthians is the current world champion and LOUD the best team in America – a title won after winning this year’s Copa America.
Even in the first edition of the World Championship in the modality, back in April 2019, Brazil already arrived with chances to win and even under the setback that crowned Indonesia’s EVOS Capital as great champion at that time, Brazil returned with a title that until then he never left here: the best player in the world. On that occasion Ariano “Kronos”, now on Vivo Keyd, received the title of MVP of the tournament and passed the baton to Bruno “Nobru”, MVP of the second edition of the World Championship held at the end of 2019.
Among the top finishers recently, the Russians from Sbornaya ChR and the Thais from ILLUMINATE also deserve a lot of attention. Another strong region on the scene is Indonesia, the location chosen for the first world championship in the sport, and owner of one of the most popular servers in the game.

CURIOSITIES

Despite being recent in the esports scene in general, the Free Fire competition already dominates Brazil and the world. Last year, during the second edition of the World Championship of the modality, held in Rio de Janeiro, the peak of simultaneous spectators on the transmission platforms was 1.2 million and even beat the game between Corinthians and Racing on the Sul-Americana, which had a peak of 438,000 spectators.
Also in 2019, debuting at the eSports Brasil Award, a ceremony that awards the best of the year in several categories of Brazilian electronic sports, Free Fire, through its teams, players, influencers and casters, dominated the ceremony and won eight awards, including the Game of the Year.
